For Room 4’s reading inquiry we had the task of choosing a person out of a journal and creating a visual poster with no plagiarism. I chose Molly Craig, an aboriginal girl who traveled over 1,000 km to get out of a servant school at the age of 14 in 1931! I enjoyed learning about a new person and her amazing achievements. Honestly I found it hard to finish my reading task in time while completing my second writing inquiry, because I had to practice ukulele during school.
I think that Molly Craig is an amazing person because of her outstanding achievements while just at the age of 14 across the harsh climate of Australia, just surviving off her hunting skills with her sister and cousin too. Do you think you could do that at the age of 14?

For Room 4’s writing inquiry we had the task of finding 2 artists, find out some information and put it together to create an amazing piece of art. I decided to choose a British actress named Emma Watson. I think that Emma Watson is an amazing role model as she makes some very inspiring quotes, and is all around pretty cool.

I enjoyed learning about an amazing person like her who inspired me to be better than before and follow my dreams.Although I found it hard to put all my info together to make piece of art.

Writing The Buffalo And The Lion

The Buffalo And The Lion

For Room 4's writing, we explored the concept of adrenalin writing. I enjoyed doing this fast writing and I never wanted it to end. For adrenalin writing we got given a video and was told to adapt it into our own piece of writing which we could add anything to, true or fake. For mine I chose a video of a lion trying to chase down a buffalo. Personally I found it hard to stay in the same tense and brainstorm. Have you ever done adrenalin writing before?

For Room 4’s writing inquiry we had the task of finding 2 artists, find out some information and put it together to create an amazing piece of art. I decided to choose a french artist named Monet, who was the founder of impressionist painting, in the 19th-20th century. I chose him because he was an amazing artist and inspired me to try things that I love, even if it seems the whole world is against me.

I loved to learn about someone new that I had never heard of, and what shaped him into becoming the amazing artist he was. I found it tricky to find all the research that I needed but I got there in the end. If I did another inquiry like this, I think with my info page I’ll put it in order of their life to make it easier to put together effectively. Our learning intention was to find out about 2 artists, that interest us and present it onto our posters by finding key info, put it into our own words.

Hi, my name is Liana, I am a part of Room 4 Matawai School, as a year six. I live on a farm with my two brothers and parents. I was born in Gisborne, New Zealand, in the land of the long white cloud. Over the time that I’ve lived on our farm I’ve developed a love for animals. Every year I’d receive a miss-mothered lamb and learn to feed it and all the things that a lamb needs to survive. But one of the best parts of my life was getting our pet dog, Gus. He listens to me blabbering with all my problems and helping me to feel better when I’m down.

As I mentioned before, I am a year six at Matawai School. My favourite subject would be writing as you can write anything you want, whether it's true or not. I think that I am doing quite well with my mathematics too. My goals this year are to keep on going ahead in all subjects of my learning. I really enjoy school, with all the learning and collaborating with others.

This year I would really like to improve my hockey skills. My inspiration for hokey would be Anita Mclaren as she is a big part of the black sticks. In two years time I’m hoping to make it into the Poverty Bay Rep team, before I go to high school. I love to care for my pets (lambs and dog). This year I’m hoping to win Champion pet, which I came so close to last year with my lamb Lulu, who now lives in the paddock behind our house.
