My Attempt To Be Vincent Van Gogh

Today for Cybersmart, we were having a bit of a taster for the summer learning journey. The summer learning journey is basically a programme over the summer for blogging where they give you a cool task each day and you blog about it. Today we got to pick a picture on https://artsandculture.google.com/experiment/art-coloring-book/1QGsh6vSfAQBgQ?hl=en , I picked Roses by Vincent van Gogh. We then changed up the colours to make the image our own. I decided to make my roses yellow instead of the pale whitish colour because it's known as a happy colour, and has been scientifically proven to make people happier by looking at it. Although I would have preferred a slightly more washed-out and less intense yellow.

Here is my work...

Today for Cybersmart we were using Lunapic to create pop art. First we took a picture of ourselves, making sure to have a pretty blank background so that Lunapic wouldn't put too much detail behind us, taking away from us in the foreground. Next we uploaded them to Lunapic and added filters. I think the first 2 are Sadness (which I can only explain as a filter that makes you look like a fish) and Flames (which makes me look like Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games), but I'm not sure what the bottom 2 are. Finally, using google drawings we put them into a 2x2 array and voila!

Here is my work

After we finished this we used a website called Artnet. Here is my other work...

Creating A Jingle Using WeVideo

This week for cybersmart Room 4 were creating jingles or a sort of short video promoting a brand or something. First we came up with brand ideas, I came up with Gumboot Industries which was a sort of inside joke between some of my friends a while ago. Next, using google drawings, we created text boxes with writing in it to show off our company. After downloading them as PNGs we imported them to we video and started animating them to move in as when wanted them to appear. I'm pretty happy with my finished product, but there is still room for improvement.

Making Music Using Soundtrap

Lately for cybersmart we have been working on making our own music. This time we used Soundtrap. But first we chose an image to try and make our music match e.g if it was a cheetah it would be fast music, if it was a book it might be calming music. I chose a picture of a playful puppy. My aim was to make the music kind of fun and playful at the start then at the end to kind of slow it down a bit to replicate the puppy starting to get tired. That was my aim at least. It was very hard for a start to get my head around soundtrap because there was just so much going on everywhere and I had no idea where to start. So in the end I basically used at least 75% of my time trying desperately to figure out how to use the website. I've discovered that it's not very likely I'll get a job in the music industry because I'm not particularly good at it. I don't think I ended up fully achieving my goal. But after downloading it and adding it to my slide with the photo on it I was happy enough with my results. To play and stop my music click on the speaker symbol on the slides and click the pause/play button.

Make Your Own Music!

Today with Mrs Torrie we learnt how to make our own music. We used three apps: IncrediboxDigital Rythm Maker and Turn Art Into Music. For my finished result below I used incredibox.
It was really fun playing around with all the different settings and creating our own pieces of music which were all different to each others.
I think this tool could be really helpful for future animations.
I would definitely recommend giving this a go.

The Science Of Yeast

A recent focus for Room 4 has been fungi. A form of fungi is yeast. So on Wednesday we did a science experiment on which temperature of water works best to activate yeast. We discovered that around 39 degrees Celsius is optimal. So today with Mrs Torrie we learnt how to make GIF's to show our learning on how yeast is activated. Using slides we made a short presentation based on our experiment. We then used TallTweets to turn it into a GIF.

My Animation- Car Crash In Cartoonsville

Here is my animation that I finished today.
I really enjoyed coming up with the idea for the animation and creating it,
although it took quite a bit of patience with all the slides.

True Or False? Real Or Photo Shopped?

Today Room 4 were learning how to make a fake image.
I really enjoyed using my creativity to make my own fake image.
I found it hard to blank out my right leg and it looks really fake because I was in a rush to try to make it look like I was riding it. I also found it hard because I had to compromise, first of all I wanted to be riding a hippogriff but I couldn't find any good ones that are labelled for reuse, so I tried a thestral (obviously by this point you can tell I love harry potter) but once again no good ones so I had to compromise for a dragon.
Next time I would manage my time a bit better so I could try to make my right leg look a little bit more real.

Rugby World Cup Google Earth

Today Room 4 were learning how to use Google Earth to make a Rugby World Cup Video.

I enjoyed being creative with the writing on it.

I found it frustrating to cooperate with my computer because it is getting old and so it loads super slowly, meaning that it took about 5 years longer than everyone elses.

Rugby World Cup Mascot Animation Action

Today I was learning how to make an animation under 50 slides in google slides.
I enjoyed making each scene slightly different than the one before.
I found it challenging to  come up with the story line for my highland cow.
My digital learning object shows that I can make an animation in google slides.
Next time I would change the story line I am following because I am not completely happy with it and would try to make it more creative.

Scotland Mascot

Today I was learning how to make an avatar using google drawings

I enjoyed making the highland hairy cow and being creative with the flag (used as the hat), flower (the thistle) and the mascot, as well as adding my own touches like the kilt.

I found it challenging to find the colour for the hair because you had to be careful not to make it look too red but also capture the redness. As well as using the flag in a creative way because we weren't allowed to use it as the background.

My digital learning object shows that I can use poly line, select colours and be kind of creative.

Next time I would change... nothing, I'm pretty proud of my mascot making skills and I think this highland cow is as perfect as I can make it.

Daisy's Maths Predicament

Today I was learning how to link slides to each other.
I enjoyed the design aspect of the quiz as it let me experiment around with the different colour tools and knowing my I took way to long on everything there.
I found it challenging to come up with the question because I was aiming this at a year 3-5 age level and I have completely forgotten what sort of level I was at during that stage.
My digital learning object shows that I know how to... link slides, figure out maths questions, embed slides into my blog, change the background.
Next time I would change the amount of time I used on each thing because sometimes I was spending too much time on something small.

Action Shots

Today I was learning how to make an original photo to create an action shot of what we enjoy doing in Matawai.
I enjoyed the finishing part where we were allowed to add in a background and a png or in my case a dog.
I found it challenging to actually get my picture. I never seem to look vaguely good in photos and I'm very picky about trying to make everything as good as I can, so I found it hard to just deal with my horrible picture basically.
My digital learning object shows I can... use remove background, add a background in slides, take a photo using my webcam, add images to slides, and embed slides in my blog.
Next time I would try to change my photo so it looked like I was patting a dog more.

Making Original Photos

Today Room 4 learnt about making original photos. The objective was to learn about how to use our digital cameras and not use other peoples photos who haven't allowed us to.

We had to take images of thing like ourselves, our art from this year, where we like to work, our school logo, another computer, our shoe and something yellow.

Next we had to download some images from people who had allowed us to like a kiwi, something green, a soccer ball, food, a beach, a Gisborne sunset and our favourite animal.

I  really enjoyed using Lunapic to put special effects on our faces.
I found it challenging to take photos of myself because I always seem to look weird in photos, no matter how hard I try not to.
Next time I'd spend less time trying to get a good photo of myself and just download one off my computer straight away.

Here is my work...

Respect

Mr Knight gave us the task of creating a piece of work to show what respect is to us. I chose to make a poster. We had to make it bright and bold using colour and images. We all got to work and the end results were amazing. I really enjoyed making this piece of writing. The whole goal around this was to present our work to someone outside of Matawai School and for them to understand what respect is in our school. I found it hard to do all the pretty presentation work because I'm better at the whole work thing. My personal goal for this poster was to make it look like it was a bit slapped together at the last minute and slightly jumbled up, making it look in some peoples eyes IMperfect. But yet that's not the case at all because there is no such thing as PERFECT and IMPERFECT, there is just trying your best and well, not trying your best. So hopefully you take something away from this. Thank you for taking the time to read my blog post. Have a great day...

Here is my work...
Sorry due to technical difficulty's I am not able to put a picture of my work up right now. But no need to worry it will be up soon...

Google Ninja

Today I worked on the Google Doc Ninja Challenge.

Today I earned the white, green and red belt.

I am aiming to get the google ninja belt.

I found it hard to insert the equation because I didn't know you had to hit the new equation button before starting.

I found it easy to do the simple directions e.g Bold, Italic, Centering, Line Spacing, e.c.t.

5 Kid-Friendly Things To Do In Wellington

1. The Seal Coast, I would personally choose this one as my favourite because I love animals and have never seen a seal so it would be an amazing experience. It's only a ten minute drive out of Wellington, so it's really close and would be loads of fun.

2. Zealandia, take a trip to a native bush land to see loads of native and endangered birds and reptiles, like the kiwi and much more!

3. Weta Workshop, find out about how weta workshop make movie magic come to life.

Weta Caves

This term Room 4 have been preparing for our camp in Wellington, by learning about our various stops. We were all divided into 4 groups with different places to study. I was put in the Weta Workshop group which is a special effects place that helps with movies, and tv programmes. Each group had to have some cyber smart learning embedded in it, and so my group made an avatar of a weta to represent weta workshop. Over the years Weta Workshop has made themselves a very good name by helping with movies like ‘The Hobbit’ and ‘Lord Of The Rings’. Everyone had their part in the research to find e.g where, what, who and how. Everyone had their struggles but everybody, pitched in and the finished results were all worth it.
This is my groups finished product...

How To Deal With Cyber Bullies

We were learning about how to deal with cyber bullies
I found it easy to design my cyber work.
I found it hard to embed my work into this blog.
I really enjoyed learning about the steps of dealing with a cyber bullies.
Next time I need to remember how to embed my work int my bog

My Blog Post shows that I am a Smart Learner.
