Natural Art Challenge

These last couple of days, Mrs Bennett challenged us to make a work of art out of natural resources such as leaves, sticks, rocks, moss, pinecones, bark, etc. A good sense of inspiration for us was a professional called Andy Goldsworthy, although I don't think any of us could make something as good as his art. Here is an example of one of his pieces...

Isn't that amazing?!

Now of course I couldn't make anything that even compares with that art. But after a couple of false starts, and quite a bit of foraging around the farm I came up with this...
P.S sorry the lighting in the images aren't of very good quality, it got dark pretty quickly at our place and was mainly destroyed by the wind over night.

Have you ever done natural art before?

If you want to see some of my classmates masterpieces you can go to the Room 4 Class Blog.

  1. Hello Liana
I am impressed with your creation using natural materials. I like your choice of colours , they work well together in your masterpiece. What a good idea to use pinecones for the centre.
Do you remember when the whole school went to Eastwoodhill Arboretum in autumn and we worked in groups to gather and create a piece of art on the lawn? I still have photos of those creations.
    Well done Liana

    1. Hello Mrs Fisher,
Thank you so much. Sadly I was sick when the school went to the Eastwoodhill Arboretum, but I can remember seeing photos of the amazing art. Luckily with the pinecones you can't see the bare sides, because quite a few of the parts got scrapped off on the journey around our farm.
Hope lock down is going well for you...
      Thank you again,

I love that you have included some information and an example of work from Andy Goldsworthy. Isn't his artwork incredible!
The colour and vibrancy of your design is very effective. I also love the height and texture of the pinecones in the centre.
The second photo shows a neat perspective from ground level...I love the sun setting in the background.
I have added this photo to the class collection...check it out on our class site.

    1. Hello Mrs Bennett,
Thank you. Andy Goldsworthy art really is awe inspiring! I wonder how long it takes him to make his artworks?
The 'sun setting in the background' is actually the kitchen light, but I had a play around with the cameras settings until it lightened things up slightly, so it amplified the light in the kitchen. But the idea of it being the sun is a lot nicer so I'll just roll with that.
      Thank you once again,
      -Liana
